Plot - Set in the 1930's in South Korea and Japan. Story rotates around 4 individuals: a honorable woman who has acquired a fortune, a swindler count who is after the noble woman's fortune, a youthful female pickpocket employed by the swindler count and the noble woman's uncle who is her guardian.
Having transposed the story to colonial Korea and Japan, Park exhibits a holding and erotic story of a youthful Japanese Lady living on a secluded domain, and a Korean lady who is contracted to serve as her new handmaiden, yet who is furtively required in a conman’s plot to cheat her of her expansive inheritance. She is a pickpocket enlisted by a swindler acting like a Japanese Count to help him lure the Lady to abscond with him, deny her of her fortune, and lock her up in a madhouse. The plan appears to continue as indicated by plan until Sookee and Hideko find some surprising feelings.
